An Australian neighbourhood social network.
There was no existing product - the network was built from zero. The hyperlocal model needed private, suburb-scoped groups, with trust and safety resting on area-restricted membership. The model had to reach nationwide coverage, and the work spanned Europe-based engineering with the client’s business team in Australia.
We built the full backend, website and a custom back office, contributing part of the product design alongside the code. Production and staging ran with 24×7 support, delivering suburb-scoped private communities across the country. In effect we acted as the client’s dedicated engineering team.
An 8-member dedicated team - three backend and one frontend developer, two mobile developers, a DevOps engineer, a QA engineer and a project manager - with Europe-based engineering working alongside the client’s business team in Australia; platform launched 2014. It was a greenfield build from architecture through to the back office, with design contributed alongside development, owned production and staging including releases, and a 24×7 support arrangement for the live platform.
